Does anybody know how to find records of residents of the Columbus State Hospital during the period of 1880-1920? If so, please contact me at v.rex@mchsi.com. Thanks.

This is a nice big park with natural tee'd areas and large open spaces as well. I saw 3 deer there recently (July 2009). The wooded areas do not have paths, but little game trails to walk along. There is a lovely little stream running through it which is great for wading in on a hot July day.

This is a nice city park with a lot to offer for it`s area. There are baseball diamonds, soccer fields, a pond with some fish, basket ball courts, playground equipment for the kids. I sometimes walk my dogs on the path which circles around the park.
The trees here are large and well developed and include walnut trees.
The community association building is on the east side of the park. There is a shelter building which can be rented. It looks clean and well cared for from what I can see.

This was the first apartment complex I lived in as a youth...moved to "Chesterfield Apartments" as is was called in 1980. It was scary then. Harley bikers lined the streets and tough glances from strangers was the norm. You just got used to it and learned to be tough. I was 19 or 20 then.
I only lived there 2-3 years. I shared my place with more roaches than I have seen in a lifetime....tried to exterminate...I wish I could have afforded to move.
Scarey tales: I came home one night and the first floor apartment had its windows busted out. Blood covered the entire entryway of my building. I tip-toed through it to get home (3rd floor). Our doors were steel then, probably the only thing that allowed me to sleep at night.
The day I moved, someone stole all my clothes from my car as I made one last trip back to my apartment.
I never went back after that night. I never looked back until now.
In closing, just wanted to say, that I am glad the complex was there....it allowed me to move out on my own and learn to take responsibility for myself. I think it should have been torn down though when I moved out in the 80's.

The website, "ForgottonOhio.com", says that the original owner constructed secret passages throughout the mansion. This is also confirmed by materials from the property management company, which describe a den (located between the second and third floors) which features a "moveable bookcase that opens onto the hallway below" and a "one-way mirror looking onto the conservatory."

Clintonville is a great neighborhood, popularly known as one of the 'hippest' in Columbus, not just for the left-leaning politics of the residents but for the social scene at the numerous bars and eclectic and ethnic restaurants along High St.
